Hello Parents—Welcome to the Christmas Season! What a wonderful time of year!
Although this Christmas will be different as it was for Thanksgiving, remember it is still a very special time for your child. Show them the heart of Christmas by teaching and reading them the Christmas story from the Bible, just as we will be doing daily at school.
As we focus on the Truth of Christmas, its simplicity naturally shines through. While Christmas can and should be a delight, it can also be a stressful and potentially emotional season. This year, I challenge you to press into the simplicity that 2020 has foisted upon us. Treasure your priceless gifts—your family—and the miracle that Christ was sent to earth over 2000 years ago to bring us peace and good will. Lay the pressures of perfection aside, and embrace the added time with loved ones that is unique to this era in the history of our world. Some easy ways to do this are daily acts of prayer, worship or singing, and a special time of reading the Bible together with your children. Also, see our list of ideas earlier in this newsletter!
Our prayer at VCA is this: that you would grow in a genuine closeness to Jesus and keep Him at the center of all you do. We desire to encourage your heart and give you many wonderful ideas for having a Christ-centered Christmas by showing His love to those in your world!
We are so grateful that you are a part of the Valley Christian Academy family, and we wish you a very blessed Christmas!
With love in Christ,
Ms. Renee and staff

VCA & COVID19

As we continue to press forward through the global pandemic, we want to thank our students, staff and all of your families for the trust you have placed in us each and every day thus far. Our journey through 2020 has not been perfect, but we have seen and sensed the presence of God every step of the way. We are making the conscious effort to follow God’s plan for our school through the rest of 2020 and into the future. That includes meeting in person as much as possible & offering “in-person distance learning” for local elementary students whose schools have voluntarily chosen to switch back to the online classroom.
In order to make this an ongoing success, we again ask for your partnership with the following: wearing a mask upon drop off and pick up; handwashing prior to drop off; routine temperature checks; keeping your child home until 24 hrs. symptom-free if he or she displays ANY sign of illness; adherence to quarantine guidelines (for VCA and district students in our care); a deep breath of patience—we WILL make it through this!

‘Tis More Blessed to Give

Jesus is God’s most precious gift to mankind, and he came to earth that first Christmas as a baby. Imagine that! John 3:16 says “For God so loved the world that he GAVE His only son…” The Bible also teaches that we are more blessed when we give than when we receive (paraphrase of Acts 20:35b). This Season, what act of service or gift can YOU give to share Jesus with those in your world? Below is a “12 days of Christmas Giving” list with some creative ideas. Make sure to send any pictures or stories to info@vcacolorado.com so we can spread the good news of your JOY with others!

12 Days of Christmas Giving
Day 1 – Donate toys to children in need.
Day 2 – Schedule a FaceTime call with a sick or elderly person.
Day 3 – Donate to a local animal shelter. Pets without homes need love too!
Day 4 – Drop off gently used clothing, canned food or blankets to a homeless shelter.
Day 5 – Bake cookies for a new neighbor on your block.
Day 6 – Go Christmas caroling! Just be safe. It’s 2020.
Day 7 – Take dinner to a family in need.
Day 8 – Call a friend or relative that you won’t get to see during the holidays this year.
Day 9 – Make a handmade craft for a new friend.
Day 10 – Do as many random acts of kindness as you can.
