Why is Kindergarten important?
Kindergarten is a unique environment that promotes learning and development. VCA encourages experimentation through trial and error, watching, listening, and participating. We also work with an academically rigorous and developmentally appropriate curriculum to take our kindergarteners to the next level and prepare them for their elementary years!
5 Dimensions of readiness
1. Physical Development – Our kindergarteners continue honing in their physical motor skills through activities like outside play, cutting with scissors, writing, and more!
2. Social and Emotional Development – We encourage social and emotional development by teaching kids about taking turns, solving problems calmly, and communicating with peers and teachers.
3. Approaches to Learning – We inspire an attitude of excitement for our kindergarteners. Our kids learn quickly, happily, and build their attention span throughout the year.
4. Communication and Language – In Kindergarten we work on reading and writing specifically. Kids are learning new site words, differences between capitals and lower case, and how to write sentences.
5. Cognition – Our kindergarteners are learning how to think critically. We focus on retainment with stories, problem solving, sorting, and more!
Christian Education
At Valley Christian Academy we are so proud that we have the opportunity to teach little ones about Christ! At our school we are not afraid to pray with kids, teach them bible stories, and talk about God. Teaching about Christ from a young age is quintessential to their faith throughout their entire lives! We participate in prayer daily, discuss bible stories in class, and hold a live chapel once a week in our multipurpose room.
