Director’s Corner
Dear Parents,
Can you believe we are now beginning our eighth week of the school year?! We are THRILLED with the success each classroom is having and are so blessed that our momentum is VERY strong. All glory to God! Thank you for attending our drive-through spaghetti dinners and stepping up to get involved at VCA as well. It is your participation and support that makes our school resilient and strong!
As we step into these early days of Autumn, we recognize that Fall is a season of change. In nature, it is often seen as a celebration of the fruits of our labor and a time for the old to pass away, making room for the new growth to come in Spring. In education, the opposite is true: fall brings the start and blossoming of new endeavors! This is an exciting time for teachers and students alike—A new grade, new relationships, routines, & topics of study! This is one of the most engaged times of the entire school year.
However, 2020 has changed the tone of so much of this transition. There is heightened concern about teacher and student safety in a way we haven’t experienced in our lifetimes. For many, fear has crept in, replacing peace. Planning for an unpredictable year has taken away the normal respite of summertime and replaced it with facets of undue tension. We know that in a normal year, teacher well-being is an issue with all of the regular demands. This year, we are seeing stress levels start at an all-time high, and on the surface, there doesn’t seem to be much hope for change.
Does this mean we are stuck in a constant state of hopelessness and unrest? Not at all! We know from scripture that God uses the dark nights of the soul as proving grounds for His miracles to burst forth. The many accounts of His faithfulness in the Bible help remind us that we are not the source of our own strength, but in our weakness He is indeed the One who is strong! The Lord has an endless reservoir of peace that transcends our understanding, if only we will run to Him with our worries and fears. It is all too easy for us to rely on ourselves to survive during a stressful time, so let’s be quick to remember that God is our author of peace and rest.
With all of that being said, I encourage you to give your worries and stressors to the Lord. Breathe in His peace as you let go of the uncertainties of each day. Join us & get involved with your child at VCA. Participating as much as you can will be a source of joy and will allow you to easily stay informed. As each day passes, we will have more and more opportunities for you to be on our campuses, helping to plan and enact the future of our school. The teachers and staff will continue to pour into our future Christian leaders with great care and the best academics & spiritual, social and emotional support. We are better together, and together, God will pull us through!
In His Service,
